BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are the key moves taken by policymakers in the past week to enhance China's economic strength and sustainability:

-- Efforts urged to further promote government transparency at grassroots

The State Council, China's cabinet, Wednesday urged boosting transparency in grassroots government affairs and accelerating the building of a service-oriented government.

Local governments were urged to draw up standard directories on the disclosure of government information by 2020 and realize the full disclosure of the entire process and results.

-- Reform measures for "new third board"

Measures to reform China's National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ), or the "new third board," are expected to be implemented in the first half of 2020.

The government has finished soliciting public opinions on revised rules regarding the NEEQ reform and is expected to release them soon, with measures that allow companies to be listed and enter the best-performing group on the NEEQ scheduled to come into effect in the first half of next year, according to NEEQ.

-- China to release 40,000 tonnes of pork reserves

China will release 40,000 tonnes of pork from reserves to brace for a spike in demand during the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival holidays, according to Gao Feng, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, Thursday.

The country will also step up efforts to improve the linkage between pork production and sales to keep the pork price stable.

-- Policies to increase financial cooperation between Chinese mainland and Macao

Macao banks are encouraged to set up branches in the mainland, and mainland insurance capital can invest in Macao, according to a statement released Friday by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.

Mainland financial lease firms will get support in expanding into Macao.

-- Key meeting held to map out plans for 2020 rural work

The central rural work conference was held in Beijing from Dec. 20 to 21. The conference discussed a document on increasing efforts on major work concerning agriculture, rural areas and rural people to ensure the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects is achieved on time.

The conference stressed the importance of winning the battle against poverty, and called for consistent efforts to lift the rest of the poor population out of poverty and effective steps to prevent people from slipping back into poverty. Enditem
