YANGON, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A Myanmar branch of a Chinese mining company and a university from China's Yunnan Province reached a cooperation framework agreement in Yangon Tuesday on building the Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute in Myanmar.

The signing ceremony between the Wanbao Mining Copper Ltd (Myanmar) and Yunnan Minzu University for the establishment of the institute and the company's campus, was held at the China Cultural Center here.

Speaking at the ceremony, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Li Xiaoyan said the establishment of the institute represents a response to the call by the Myanmar government to enhance vocational training and help Myanmar bring out human resources.

She expressed belief that with joint efforts, the institute could nurture human resources in various sectors, which the society heavily needs, by combining the reality of local socio-economic development and through conducting various training.

She also expected that under the Lancang-Mekong cooperation framework, the two countries would launch more effective cooperation in vocational education sector to benefit more Myanmar people and to bring the two peoples closer as well as to enable inheritance of China-Myanmar "paukphaw" (fraternal) friendship generation by generation.

Lancang-Mekong river connects six countries -- China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
