JOHANNESBURG, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Memorial services for South Africa's Mother of the Nation Winnie Madikizela-Mandela continued in the country with the unveiling of the tribute wall at the African National Congress (ANC) headquarters in Johannesburg on Monday.

Madikizela-Mandela passed away on April 2, 2018 after a long illness in Johannesburg and will be laid to rest on April 14, 2018.

ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule unveiled the Madikizela-Mandela tribute wall as part of the ongoing 10-day mourning period.

Magashule stated that the country would forever be grateful for the role Madikizela-Mandela played in the country's liberation.

He mentioned that the country has been holding memorial services in various parts of the country.

"What has been done is truly amazing and brings truth to Mandela's vision of a non-racial and non-sexist South Africa. And in time, I am sure it will see the unity and renewal of the ANC," said Magashule.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe told Xinhua that they would keep the tribute wall outside ANC headquarters to allow the people to write their feelings about the fallen heroine.

"This is a platform to give an opportunity to ordinary South Africans to pay tribute to Mama (mother) Winnie. She was associated with the people in our society and we want them to express their feelings," said the spokesperson.

The ANC Women's League Secretary General Matuba Meokgo told Xinhua that they have been having services during the 10 days' mourning declared by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Meokgo said the ANC Women's League will continue to fight for what Madikizela-Mandela stood for.
