PHNOM PENH, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia recorded a significant increase in the cases of non-communicable diseases in 2025, said a Ministry of Health's annual report on Saturday.
Non-communicable diseases include diabetes, cancer, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and mental health illnesses.
A total of 292,197 new cases of diabetes were diagnosed last year, a year-on-year rise of 26.8 percent, the report said.
"For cancer, 35,921 patients received cancer treatment in hospitals last year, a year-on-year rise of 13.9 percent, and 155 deaths were recorded in 2025," the report said.
Hypertension was also on the rise, with 451,009 cases being reported last year, up 12.2 percent year-on-year, the report said, adding that 25,481 cardiovascular disease patients received treatment at hospitals and 1,091 of them died last year.
The cases of mental health illnesses also increased, the report said, adding that the kingdom registered 389,553 mental health illness cases in 2025, up 37.8 percent year-on-year. ■
