ADDIS ABABA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The recent appointment of ministers and heads of federal government organizations will serve as a positive imputes in providing concrete solutions to the preoccupations of the public, according to the newly appointed Ethiopian Minister of Government Communications Affairs Office, Ahmed Shide.

Shide, addressing the media for the first time in his new position on Friday, said that the newly organized cabinet "will help to address the general public's demands towards peace, democracy as well as multi-sector development in the country."

According to Shide, the newly appointed ministers and heads of the various government offices would help propel the expected changes that the East African country embarked on.

The Ethiopian parliament's lower house in its Thursday's session approved the appointment of 16 new cabinet members upon the recommendation made by Ethiopia's new Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

Abiy Ahmed, who was unanimously endorsed by the Ethiopian House of People's Representatives (HoPR) as Ethiopia's Prime Minister earlier this month, has reshuffled the East African country's cabinet members, the majority of whom were appointed by the HoPR as per the recommendation of former prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn in November 2016.

The premier has also appointed nine other officials for various pertinent positions within the federal government structure, which include the Federal Police Commission, the Ethiopian Information Network Security Agency and Metal and Engineering Corporation.

Abiy Ahmed, who came to power amid mass anti-government demonstrations in parts of the East African country, indicated that responding to the demands of the general public remained at the top of his administration's agenda.
